The WordPress platform is the most popular CMS in the world, but it’s also one of the most flexible. That means that you can customize your site to fit your needs. Whether it’s creating a more seamless way for customers to leave reviews, adding a call-to-action for people to check in at your physical location (or even creating a map marker), or curating content that makes your business stand out, these five plugins will help you get started on using Google My Business with WordPress:

What is Google My Business Account?

Google My Business (GMB) is a free tool by Google that helps local businesses manage their online presence on Google Maps and Google Search. It also offers a variety of tools to help you get more reviews, manage your online reputation and drive traffic to your business.

How to Manually Integrate Google My Business and WordPress

Combining GMB and your WordPress.com business site can result in a highly visible online presence. Fortunately, you can integrate these platforms by following the four steps below:

1. Create a Google My Business account.

To start, you’ll need to set up a Google My Business profile. You can create or edit a listing by selecting Manage Now on the Google My Business page. You’ll need a Google account to continue, so sign in or create one if you haven’t already.

Then you can enter your business’ information, including its name and location. You’ll need to note if the address you’ve listed is a store, or if you only deliver your goods and services to customers. You can also hide your address from searchers if you wish, and specify your service area. Next, select your business’ category and provide a phone number and/or website so customers can contact you and gather more information about your company.

Finally, you’ll need to finish by verifying your business using a phone call or by providing further details about yourself.”

2. Verify Your Location.

In order to maintain accurate results and prevent people from editing listings for businesses that don’t belong to them, Google requires that you verify your location. To do this, you’ll need to verify your address with Google. This process can take a little time depending on how you choose to complete it.

Some people can verify their address by entering a code into their GMB account by phone or email. Most businesses will have to wait for the delivery of a postcard sent to their address, though. Either way, once you’ve completed this step, you can add and manage your business in Google Maps.”

3. Allow WordPress Access to Your Google Account

WordPress can help you connect your Google My Business (GMB) listing to your site. Here’s how: Sign in to your WordPress Business site’s dashboard and navigate to the Stats section. You should receive a prompt asking if your customers can find you on Google. By clicking on Start Now, you’ll be able to specify if you’re an online business or you have a physical location.

Next, select the Connect to Google My Business button. This should enable you to sign into your Google account and give permission for WordPress to access it. Once you click Allow, WordPress will be able to manage your GMB listings and connect them to your site.

Connect Your Location

Your Google My Business profile is automatically associated with your website. To connect your site to your GMB listing, follow these steps: If you haven’t done so already, sign into Google My Business and make sure you’ve claimed your business. From the menu at the top left of any page, click More Actions > Manage locations. You should see all the listings associated with your Google account.

Simply select the Connect Location button for the correct listing. This will add a website link to your GMB profile, so customers will have direct access to your site from Google Maps and results pages. Note that if you like, you can connect multiple listings to the same site.
